The world of Shakespeare
What is consistently so inspiring about Shakespeare is the way
in which his plays introduce us to a multitude of different
characters. Their lives weave around each other and through
them we see the blueprint of all the nobility and villainy,
constancy and contradiction of life. Think of all the
characters in Hamlet for instance, or Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet,
Richard III, the list is endless...
The Play's Origins
By breaking down Shakespeare's texts and reforming them into
a new and exciting script, Jonathan Shelleys play frees
up some of the familiar passages from Shakespeare and takes
us into the magical world of Shaksepeare's Works. Initially,
we wanted to call the play just that because it is, above all,
a journey through the world of Shakespeare. 'Malvolio's
Revenge' was coined as it gave more clues about the story itself,
and above all, avoided the misconceptions that might lead people
to think we were offering a condensed version of the whole of
Shakespeare's works.
The Director's Cut
During our first year of production in 2001 we received such
a great response that we decided to continue touring the piece.
A year on and several extra pages of script later, we emerged
with a significantly re-worked director's cut which we toured
extensively around the UK to the great appreciation of audiences
and company alike.

Face to face, both tragic &
comic...
'Malvolio's Revenge' was not written as a sequel to 'Twelfth
Night', although some of it's richest and most interesting characters
are the driving force behind it. What better way to start
a journey through the works of Shakespeare than by using some
of his most well known and well loved characters to guide us
through - Feste the fool, the omnipresent philosopher and cynic
whose wit and wisdom carry him through,Sir Andrew Aguecheek,
the unresolved tragic clown who is slighted in love, and Malvolio,
the wronged steward with an overdeveloped sense of pride.
Entertainment & Experience with Works Well
Our 2002 tour of Malvolio's Revenge is now complete and we are
currently planning what to do with the piece next. The
response we have received so far has been tremendous and we
thank all our audiences and supporters for their enthusiasm
and encouragement.
