MALVOLIO'S REVENGE TOUR

FROM THE STAGE DOOR

"Folio, folio where for art thou folio?  You might well ask.  In a dazzling display of character collision, tortuous plotlines and anachronistic irreverence, Works Well - and it does, and they do - productions deliver a thoroughly enjoyable and ambitious production, romping - charging - through the works of Stratford‚s finest.  Determined to drag the works of Annie Hathaway‚s wayward into the Noughties and make them crucial, comic and relevant to a modern audience, WWP present a brilliantly dressed (no mean feat; I lost count of the number of costume changes, and they were good costumes, an important factor in a piece like this), well performed, well written and well researched show... it does cheer me greatly to see a group of people so committed to delivering theatre, accepting it‚s not just about the strutting of the stuff, but also the fretting of publicity, web-sites, maintaining good relations with venues and funders etc - In short, the whole thing.."
John Tellet, Artistic director Tower Arts Centre, Winchester

"Excellent! A very good audience response"
Dan Danson, Artistic Director, Tobacco Factory Bristol

FROM THE FOYER.

"I have just returned from an absolutely splendid evening of theatre at the Salisbury Arts Centre.  Thank you all very much indeed.  As a Friend of Shakespeare's Globe, and patron of various other drama organisations, I am a frequent theatre-goer, with pretty rigorous standards.  I found this evening's performance outstanding, on every count - conception, writing, direction, acting,  (costume even, though you could have done it in your birthday suits and (sorry), I would not have been distracted). Keep up the brilliant work!‚ "
Janet Watford, Salisbury

"Wonderful teamwork.  The players so evidently enjoyed the event.  More please.  My wife, though not a keen Shakespearean, loved every moment."
John Eyre, retired teacher

"Wewent to see the production of Malvolio's Revenge on Wednesday evening @ the Gatehouse Theatre, Highgate.... a great production, excellent script, nice action scenes and all round wonderful performances from the whole cast not forgetting to mentionsome classic comedy timing.  A show that makes you rememeber why theatre is so good.  A HUGE WELL DONE TO ALL THE CAST AND CREW!!
Simon Harris, Sales Negotiator,  Highgate

" The best show I have been to for a long time"

Alan Gough 50 Teacher

"Excellent show, built on a superb script and tons of energy and enthusiasm.  Working with kids I would recommend this as a gateway to Shakespeare for the younger ones and a companion piece to the study of any of his plays as well as a study of the history of language for older ones.  Quite apart from that it is simply funny and entertaining"
Jessica Garratt 32 Actress/Drama teacher

"Great show. A winner. Focused and energized...you'll have great success with this - keep it running"
Sue Colverd, Artistic director, Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham

FROM THE PRESS

The greatest works of Shakespeare receive an affectionate makeover in this clever play that is running at the Gatehouse theatre this week... The costumes of Works Well Productions are superb, clearly perfected after months of touring.  Similarly the performances are slick and well executed.  Shame it is on for such a short run."
Camden New Journal

The company are accomplished players who success in making Shakespeare truly accessible by using comedy to explain plotlines and dramatic conventions...skillful and yet steeped in Shakespearean tradition "Works Well" works well along side the natural wit of Shakespeare

"Audacious. Witty. Splendid. Nifty."The Stage

"A magical journey through Shakespeare. A combination of classic Shakespearean linguistic style, interspersed with contemporary asides, gave a unique flavour to the play which was lively and funny with a few poignant moments. Quotations from Shakespeare were frequent but used as part of the action, giving a sense of familiarity within a new dramatic environment. A beauty of the production was it's ability to celebrate the drama of Shakespeare while recognising the clichés of performance over the years." Gloucestershire Echo

" It certainly takes away the silly over reverent attitude to Shakespeare which is an off put to many people. If you know your bard it gives you a good feeling to pick out the many words and phrases which are now an integral part of the English Language and if you don't, well, it's a good, mysterious romp, through previously undiscovered country." Wilts & Glos. Standard
